MTA will be hosting our Christmas Banquet this year on Friday, 12/23. Here is a word on it:
THIS KING, THAT KING – based off of Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)
Are you tired of things never going your way? Have you ever put your heart and soul into something or someone and not have it work out? I believe we have all been there before.
Dictionary.com describes the word “control” as “to exercise restraint or direction over”. I believe we all have tried to take control our lives. Some of us are preparing our studies for the best colleges. We stay up late reviewing for that test tomorrow. Some of us are trying to earn as much money as possible so we can buy the latest gadgets… have up-to-date fashion… or show off our luxury lives. From the moment we wake up, we decide what clothes to wear, what food to eat, and what needs to be done for that day. We do what we need to in order to survive. We become the king of our own lives, and I think everyone can agree that most days than not, we feel like our lives are spinning out of our control.
This December 23rd 2011 at 7:00pm EST you will hear about another King. This King is better than Siri. He is not battery operated. He knows your thoughts and your fears. He is so powerful, He can make miracles happen. However, there can only be one master in your life. As it is written, “for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24).
A wise man once said “Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny.” To take control of our lives we need to persevere for what we want. We need to continue to strive to obtain our desires. We need to constantly control our destiny. In doing so, this pursuit becomes the very essence of who we are. We let it consume our lives. We let it become our focus. We let it become our king.
So which king will you decide to have in your life? Will you choose to be the king of your own world, or hand it off to that King who created the world?
Come Friday, December 23rd 2011 at 7pm to discover that King. His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30). There will be praise, free food, and raffle-offs!
